Temple St. Clair was founded in Florence, Italy in the mid-1980’s. It was there that our founder, Temple St. Clair Carr began a lifelong collaboration with the world’s finest artigiani – the centuries-old Florentine goldsmiths’ guild. Temple fell in love with the history of jewelry and gold. This passion led her to create jewels and design elements that reflect the traditions of human adornment and universal storytelling. Working with a classic Italian yellow gold, St. Clair partnered with artisans in Florence to translate ancient techniques into meaningful jewels that would stand the test of time. A distinctive vision and aesthetic language were born.
The Story
For Temple St Clair, I served as the lead developer responsible for elevating the brand’s digital presence through a fully custom Shopify theme built from the ground up. The goal was to create an online experience that matched the elegance and precision of the brand’s luxury jewelry, while giving the internal team a flexible, modern foundation for merchandising, storytelling, and seasonal campaigns. Every template, component, and interaction was crafted specifically for their needs — no off‑the‑shelf shortcuts.
A major part of the project involved integrating Shopify’s customer and order data with Temple St Clair’s existing .NET‑based POS and accounting systems running on their local network. I architected and implemented the data‑exchange layer that allowed these systems to communicate reliably, ensuring inventory, customer records, and financial data stayed synchronized across platforms. This integration eliminated manual reconciliation, reduced operational friction, and gave the business a unified, accurate view of its sales ecosystem.
To round out the engagement, I optimized the site’s structure, performance, and usability to support both customers and internal staff. The result was a refined, technically sound Shopify implementation that honored the brand’s aesthetic while strengthening its operational backbone. By combining custom theme development with deep systems integration, I helped Temple St Clair achieve a seamless blend of luxury presentation and enterprise‑grade functionality.
